Congratulations to our newest Solicitor: Wilfred Griffiths

Yesterday at the Invercargill High Court, Wilfred Griffiths was admitted as a Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand.
Attending in support of this special occasion was Wilf’s very proud parents Tracy and Troy who travelled from Te Anau, and his Grandparents who made the trip from Wellington.
Wilf joined AWS Legal as a graduate Law Clerk in July 2024 after completing his studies at the University of Canterbury, having gained a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in Economics.
Originally from Te Anau, Wilfred was happy to rejoin the Southland community and after completing a summer clerkship with our Rural team previously, Invercargill was the obvious choice.
Reflecting on the day Wilf offered, “Being admitted to the bar was a deeply rewarding moment. I mentioned in my first address to the court that when I started on this journey that I thought that I would have to leave Southland, so to be admitted in Invercargill was a real honour. Sharing this achievement with my family made it even more meaningful.
I am very grateful to Robbie for admitting me yesterday and to have the support of the AWS Legal team in the court room was great. The support that I received from AWS Legal over the past few months has been fantastic and I am looking forward to the future.”

Robbie McKenzie, Associate of AWS Legal acted as Moving Counsel, a role he was more than happy to fulfil. “It was a privilege to serve as Wilf’s moving counsel on his admission to the bar. From his time as a Summer Clerk in the Rural Team in 2023 to his full-time role in 2024, Wilf has consistently impressed with his commitment, skill, and how effortlessly he has become part of the team. His admission to the bar reflects the hard work and dedication he has put in over the years, and I’m confident it marks only the start of a successful career ahead. We are thrilled to have Wilf at the firm and look forward to seeing where his legal journey takes him. Congratulations, Wilf, on this well-deserved achievement.”
Congratulations Wilf on your admittance, we are glad to have you as part of our team and look forward to seeing your career progress and develop.
