Millie was formally admitted in Auckland on 8 May 2026, marking the culmination of years of dedication, study, and perseverance.

The ceremony was a special occasion shared with those closest to her, including her partner, her aunty, and her friend Hannah Panchuk (Wynn Williams), who proudly appeared as her moving counsel.

Millie’s achievement was also celebrated beyond the courtroom. Thanks to a live stream of the ceremony, her mother – who lives overseas – was able to witness the moment from afar, tuning in at very early hours of the morning to share in her daughter’s success.

Millie joined AWS Legal in September 2025, following the completion of her studies at the Victoria University of Wellington, where she earned a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Communications. Since joining the firm, she has already become a valued member of the team.

Reflecting on the day, Millie described it as an opportunity to pause and truly appreciate the journey that led her to admission.

“It was an amazing day where I got to reflect on my achievement and the many years of work it took to get here,” she said.

She also noted the strong sense of camaraderie among those being admitted alongside her, all at the beginning of their legal careers.

The ceremony was particularly memorable as it coincided with Justice Van Bohemen’s final sitting before retirement. His remarks left a lasting impression, especially his advice that lawyers should “lean on your colleagues and peers.” Millie shared that this resonated deeply, reinforcing how grateful she feels to be part of the supportive team at AWS Legal

The celebrations continued back at the office, where the Queenstown team organised a special lunch, complete with a home-made carrot cake courtesy of Isobel – a thoughtful gesture that perfectly rounded off an already unforgettable day.

We are incredibly proud of Millie and this outstanding achievement. We look forward to supporting her continued growth and success as she embarks on the next chapter of her legal career.
