Congratulations to Stefanie McKenzie on Her Admission to the Bar

AWS Legal is proud to congratulate Stefanie McKenzie on her admission to the Bar, a significant milestone in her legal career.

Stefanie was formally admitted at the Christchurch High Court on Friday, 19 June 2026, in a ceremony attended by her close friends and family. The occasion marked an important achievement following years of dedication and study.

Stefanie joined AWS Legal in January 2026 after completing her studies at the University of Otago, where she earned a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in Finance.

Originally from Christchurch, Stefanie grew up on a lifestyle block just outside Darfield. She was drawn to Queenstown for the opportunity to begin her legal career in a fast-paced and evolving property sector, while also embracing the region’s renowned natural beauty and outdoor lifestyle.

Since joining AWS Legal, Stefanie has quickly become a valued member of the team. She notes that the firm’s supportive and down-to-earth culture has made the transition into professional practice both seamless and rewarding.

Reflecting on the day, Stefanie shared:

“Being admitted is a milestone I am incredibly proud of. It was very special to share the day with my friends and family and even more meaningful to have my Aunty appear as my moving counsel.”

Her moving counsel also spoke highly of Stefanie, commenting:

“It was a pleasure to be moving counsel for Stefanie. I am sure she will be an asset to the profession. It was interesting to hear speeches from all the candidates, who came from diverse backgrounds, share their reasons for choosing law and their aspirations.”

AWS Legal congratulates Stefanie on this outstanding achievement.

We are proud to support her as she begins this next chapter and have no doubt, she will make a valuable contribution to both the firm and the wider legal profession.
