Sheena is our People and Capability Manager. She grew up in Aberdeen, Scotland, moving to Invercargill in 1999, initially for two years, but like many imports to Southland, reality took a different turn. She’s never left.
She has a long career in HR, having spent time in food retail, and the public health sectors in both the UK and NZ. After several years providing HR consulting services to a wide range of businesses in Queenstown, in recent years Sheena has worked at Tiwai Aluminium Smelter and VetSouth. She takes the most satisfaction, working to make workplaces better, happier, safer and more productive places, for employers and staff alike. She joined the team at AWS in February 2022.
Parallel to her professional career, Sheena has played the violin her whole life, performing both Celtic and classical music. She has enjoyed stints with the City of Invercargill Pipe Band, and is currently a member of the Central Otago Regional Orchestra. She is a qualified glider pilot, loves spending time in, and under the water, and takes every opportunity, to hop over to Stewart Island to relax.
