THE AWARD

• A scholarship of $2,000 for a maximum of two (2) years to go towards the study costs of the recipient’s law degree.
• The opportunity to summer clerk at one of our offices in the recipient’s third and fourth year of study.
• Invitations to AWS Legal events throughout the term of the scholarship.
• One scholarship to be awarded every two years.

CRITERIA

• Applicants must be entering their third year of their LLB at a New Zealand-based tertiary institution and intend to continue that course through to completion in order to receive the annual scholarship.

• Applicants should demonstrate outstanding achievement in any of the following areas:
  • Academic performance
  • Community Service
  • Leadership
  • Cultural or sporting activities

• Preference is given to applicants from the Otago or Southland regions.

Summer/Winter Clerking at AWS Legal provides the recipient with the opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside some of Southland & Otago’s outstanding solicitors in their fields.

Summer Perks include:

• Guaranteed Christmas/New Year off due to our close down period. This is typically three weeks, beginning just before Christmas and returning to the office mid-January.
