Jessica Hayes

Senior Solicitor

Jessica was born and raised in Invercargill before studying at the University of Otago.

During university holidays Jessica was a Winter and Summer Clerk at the AWS Legal Invercargill Office. She completed her Bachelor of Laws with Honours and Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics in 2018 and has returned to join AWS Legal in 2019.

At university, Jessica was the 2017 winner of the EC Adams Memorial Prize in Land Law, a national prize for the best piece of legal writing showing excellence of achievement in the study of land law. Jessica was also the 2017 recipient of the Joseph Gerard Butler Memorial Prize for the most outstanding student in Resource Management papers.

As a member of the Employment Law Team, she works alongside Damien Pine. She focuses particularly on employment law and can assist with all employment matters including Employment Agreements, Disciplinary Matters, Dispute Resolution, Restructuring and Redundancies, and drafting Policies such as Health & Safety and Drug and Alcohol policies. 

Jessica has won national rowing titles at School, Club and University level and was a member of the New Zealand Universities Rowing Team in 2013 and 2014. In her spare time now Jessica enjoys running and spending time with her dog, Sushi.
