Damien graduated from the University of Otago in 2000 with a double degree LLB and BPhed (Hons). Damien’s Honours dissertation examined the employment relationship between the All Blacks and the NZRFU combining his two passions of rugby and employment law.
Damien commenced practice with AWS Legal in late 2000 practising as a Solicitor in the Business Team before being made a Partner in 2004.
Damien heads our Employment Team advising clients in relation to all aspects of employment law, and has represented clients at the Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court and Court of Appeal. He also manages the firm’s satellite office in Te Anau visiting on a weekly basis.
Damien is active in the community, and currently involved as Chairman of the Food Rescue Charitable Trust.
Outside of work Damien enjoys keeping fit at the gym and is a certified Les Mills instructor for RPM and Pump. Damien is also heavily involved with rugby, coaching the Woodlands Premier side to five Galbraith Shield titles over the past decade, as well as coaching various Southland representative teams.
